As the wedding season is arriving, we’re sure a lot of couples are looking for places to have their weddings at. Choosing a good venue is important as the venue itself can either make or break the event. There are a lot of factors that come into play while choosing a wedding venue, and some of them can also be as superficial as simply liking the aesthetics of the place or convenience when it comes to the route.
Having your wedding at a ‘bad’ place can taint the memories of the event even years later; so we’ve compiled a list of some wedding venues in Kathmandu you can consider hosting your wedding at.
1. Gokarna Forest Resort
If you’re looking to get married away from the city then Gokarna Forest Resort might be the place for you. The huge property and lush greenery will automatically liven up the experience even more. The place has a high end feel and will definitely make your wedding more classy. The premises are also great for an aesthetic and memorable wedding photo shoot. You can have your party either outdoors in nature or inside the halls; both of which are great options.

3. Baber Mahal Vilas
If you want to get married at a place with a distinct ‘Nepali’ vibe then you should consider Baber Mahal Vilas. This place used to belong to the Ranas back in the day and is now being run by their descendants. The architecture and aesthetics of the time are preserved, making this one of the ideal places in Kathmandu to have a traditional wedding ceremony. Your guests are also likely to love this place because of how lovely it is for an afternoon wedding. The premises are absolutely beautiful and perfect for an outdoor wedding ceremony. Wedding photoshoots taken here will surely produce some beautiful pictures.

The gardens there are huge and ideal for celebrating your big day amidst luxury and grandeur in the midst of lovely natural surroundings. Both the people getting married and the guests will enjoy the ambiance of this place. Like the ones above, this is another great place for photo-shoots. 5. Soaltee Crowne Plaza
Soaltee Crowne Plaza is one of the oldest luxury (wedding) destinations in Nepal. This is a place to consider if you want to get married in style. Soaltee Crowne Plaza has a rich history of housing various VIPs and it’s reflective in their service and environment. Even apart from the sheer status factor, Soaltee is a lovely wedding spot, especially more since it’s located in the middle of the city and is convenient for most people. Like most hotels in our list, this one is also a great place for wedding photoshoots.

6. Amritbhog
This one is not a hotel nor a resort, but a great wedding destination nonetheless. Most of us are probably familiar with this place as it is one of the older wedding venues in Nepal. Amritbhog has been hosting weddings for years and is a first choice for many people while looking into potential venues for their wedding. They have enough space for both a wedding ceremony and a party of at least over 300 people. The food there is also really good and they offer a wide variety of options while picking your meal plan. At this point they must have hosted thousands of weddings, and all people have to say are good things. We recommend this place as a venue worth checking out.

7. Hotel Shanker
Just like Baber Mahal Vilas above, this is also a hotel of historical significance. The façade of the hotel is still intact from what it was like when it was the royal residence of the rulers of Nepal from 1894 until 1964. They have 3 different halls and a front garden if you want to host a wedding. The average capacity is well over 1000 so you can have a big scale event here. The halls also preserve the architecture of what the building initially was, so your wedding will have a stylish, retro vibe.
