The hype of the 8th Amazing Motor Rally is in full swing as the 2-day rally is set to start from the 12th to the 13th of February. It features a route of Kathmandu – Chitwan – Pokhara with various checkpoints in between. The objective of this rally is to promote local tourism and raise awareness for Cervical Cancer. The event is jointly organized by Rotary Club of Bagmati Kathmandu and KGH Foundation.
Registrations are still open and you can participate by going into their Facebook page.
The participants in their four-wheelers will be departing from Kathmandu at 7 am on 12th February from the Nepal Tourism Board premises, Bhrikuti Mandap. They will then have to complete various challenges before reaching Maruni Sanctuary Lodge in Chitwan by the evening, after stopping at the various assigned checkpoints. The journey to Pokhara begins the next day from departure at 9 am and ends that evening when the participants reach the Waterfront Resort. The first, second, and third participants will be awarded at the closing ceremony that evening.
The participant with the lowest points will be crowned the winner. In this event, instead of points being reduced for breaking the rules, they will be added instead. So for example, if a participant is caught violating traffic rules or skipping the activities at the checkpoints, they’ll be given extra points as penalty. Safe Driving on Highways is also a mission of this event, so speeding over the safety limit will immediately issue them a warning and repeated violations will result in disqualification. All the vehicles will be fitted with a GPS to monitor the above mentioned factors.
The organizers hope that everyone adheres to the rules and that this event can be a fun distraction for everyone after the bleak year of 2020.
